It took me a while to get up, and over here, to write this out, but I am sad that George Carlin died.
I'm not one of those people who thinks most comedians are funny. In fact, I think most of them are pretty unfunny when you get right to it.
I've liked George Carlin since I was a child. My Dad liked him, so I grew up watching/listening to him.
Now both of them are gone.
Richard is a big fan of him, as well, and as soon as I heard, I thought of him. He probably quotes Carlin 4 times a week. It's cute.
I know he was 71. I know he's had a history of heart problems. It's still sad, though.

If you're on my Facebook list, you've already seen this. However, several people are NOT on my Facebook list and may be interested in supporting this very important cause.
My friend Alynne has committed herself to a three day, 60km, hike to raise money for cancer. Well, to fund research to get rid of it. She's not promoting cancer itself, just the cure. ;)
As you all know, it's a cause that I feel fairly strongly about. I think it is wonderful that people like her are willing to give up their time and energy for such an important issue. I want to help her meet her goal and, while I generally don't mix friends and money, I'm turning to you, my friends, to make that happen.
If you can donate ANYTHING to support her effort, it would be much appreciated - not only by Alynne, but by everyone that events like this help; now and in the future. A few dollars may not seem like much, but enough of them put together can help her reach her goal.
Thanks so much!

Michelle and I have been going on about this for a bit and now I want to share it with everyone, just in case you did not yet know about it.
So, this woman sits on a toilet for TWO YEARS and her ass finally FUSES TO THE SEAT.
Honestly?
Now I want everyone to talk about this, of course, even if you're not on my f-list at this time. It's a story that I feel needs total participation.
I'll throw out a FEW of my thoughts and we'll go from there.
1. WTF? 2. She kept saying "maybe tomorrow," when he'd ask her to come out. At SOME POINT didn't he begin to realize "tomorrow" was never coming or did he REALLY THINK "Tomorrow might be the day?" 3. Did she BATHE? I mean eww. Just...ugh. 4. WHY? WHY did this, at any point, sound like a good idea. I mean I could maybe see doing it for a day or two if it had a built in vibrator or something, but come on. IT WAS A TOILET. 5. He couldn't have cleaned it while she was on it. How fucking disgusting was the inside of that toilet after two years? 6. Did she have no friends or family? I can't go half an hour without someone calling and asking me to go out. How did she manage two years? Was she actually answering the phone with "Sorry, still on the toilet. Check back in a few years?" 7. Why in the HELL are they thinking about charging the man with anything OTHER than being with a crazy bitch by choice? She was refusing treatment even AFTER he called. I can just see the prior two years of his life.
"Honey, how about you come out of the bathroom now?"
"YOU DON'T OWN ME! I'M MY OWN WOMAN! I'LL SIT ON A TOILET IF I WANT TO."
"Umm, ok, but don't you think this is unhealthy?"
"DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO WITH MY BODY!"
"Ok. Do you want a Coke?"
The guy is guilty of some fucked up shit but that's all. The fact that, after TWO YEARS, he was still bringing her food proves to me that he wasn't negligent. Bitch would have starved had it been me.
8. Did they NEVER have guests over? 9. Didn't they get horny? Even giving head from a toilet seat is moderately awkward. Sex, in that particular position, isn't easy. Especially ONCE YOUR ASS SKIN IS FUSED TO THE SEAT. 10. WTF?
This has nothing to do with the above, but everyone knows how much I love Hello Kitty and how much I love Lisa Loeb. Now there is this:

Knight Rider is on! |
] |
The new Knight Rider is ridiculous. (Ok, of course it was going to be, but...I had to give it a chance.) The acting is hilarious - and perhaps a little painful. I also have a few other notes:
1. A Ford Focus can really keep up with a Mustang Shelby? Less than affluent guys the world over should be thrilled to know this.
2. Do any cars OTHER than Fords exist in this magical television land? (Oh wait, there's a Volvo! I'm sure it will be killed violently.)
3. How long until Coke and/or American Idol merge with this media whore?
4. KITT's a Transformer?
5. KITT sounds somewhat like Victor, the little HP guy that walks me through the set up when I format my computer.
6. Two hours? Come on.
Naturally I'm continuing to watch, and I'll watch it again. I mean, the Hoff is making an appearance. Can't risk missing that. Plus, the way things are looking, KITT's stick may get polished! Autoality - that's hot.

Haha. I don't even love cats (yes, yes, I'm a defective girl, I know) but this kills me. I love the "WTF" look they have.
More people should do this. The next fight I see, I'm going up and puking next to them.

Happy Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day! (especially for Richard and Sean, reading this)
I know it's technically not until tomorrow but Richard is marching in the parade today and I wanted to make mention of it since I can't be there.
At this time, next year, he will be overseas doing what is, really, the ultimate display of his commitment to the military and his country. It's not something everyone would do - or even COULD do. I'm thankful that there are people willing to do these things so those of us who are NOT willing are allowed the personal freedom to make our choice, as well.
Maybe that seems a bit odd coming from me; notorious for disagreeing with the government.
The orders given and the soliders serving are not one and the same, though. Seems like that gets forgotten at times. I've never LIKED that confusion, of course, but now it has a more personal feel to it, I suppose.

Look at me doing chain journal stuff. Publicly, even.
"Reply to this post, and I will list three things I love about you. Maybe more than three. Then repost to your own journal and spread the love."
(I'll only do three to make it even with everyone.)
I think it'd be fun if total strangers wound up responding to this.

I charged other kids to play with me. No kidding. I'd tell them it was this fantastic adventure, coming into my room, and charge them an entry fee.
Hey, they kept paying. I'd have been stupid to NOT take it.

It's fairly obvious that I'm never going to get around to talking to each of you individually about this and trying to have text conversations about it makes me a little insane.
So, here we go. The official "Melissa's LJ HP7 Discussion Entry!" (I haven't read friends lists, yet, so I'm sure some of you have done this. I'm not trying to be revolutionary!)
If you haven't read it, or don't want to know what happens, I highly suggest not clicking this. From this link on, my hands (and conscience) are clean!

"Hey There Delilah" by the Plain White Ts |

I was reading an article and it said this:
"The median number of lifetime female sexual partners for men was seven; the median number of male partners for women was four."
Oh my. If ANY of you fall under that number, no worries. I've got you covered. Nothing like a little "median" report to make you feel above average, eh? ;)
This got me to thinking "Does the number of sexual partners we have in a lifetime REALLY say ANYTHING about what kind of person we are?" "Should ANYTHING about us be based on sexual history?"
That got me to thinking about what people care about when first getting seriously involved with someone...
Time for one of my interactive entries:
(I'll answer later, of course, but sometimes giving my full opinion skews things and I don't want to risk that with this. There is no "right" or "wrong" answer so I really want to know what everyone thinks."
Do any of you CARE how many sexual partners your mate has had? I mean, assume you KNOW they are clean and disease free, and they are faithful to YOU...do you CARE if the number was 1 or 11, 2 or over 25? Does it matter to YOU? Where would you draw the line and why?
I'd really like to hear thoughts from each person who reads this. I'm even making it public so randoms can answer! Thanks.

So, I've been rather bored this evening. I want to go DO something but there's nothing to do and nowhere to go and just bleh.
Anyway, I'm watching Sesame Street and there was a segment of Bert and Ernie.
Since I had JUST finished talking to Richard he was, naturally, on my mind. Suddenly I wasn't quite so bored anymore...
Richard and Nathan are Bert and Ernie. No kidding. It's quite interesting and more than a little comical.
Bert is a bit brooding and maybe a little uptight (but totally sexy with the unibrow). Ernie is carefree and whimsical. It's great.
I'd love to DVR a few episodes and then video record them in July and compare the two on youtube. You'd all watch it, right?
This is, of course, dependent on the boys agreeing to it. I'd totally pay you in homebaked goodies, Nathan. Or alcohol. Yes?
Photo comparisons behind the cut ( I'll have to bring a rubber ducky of course )
